Speech and Language Services
A speech pathologist’s role is to improve a person’s communication. First Coast Brain Builders’ speech pathologist creates custom treatment plans for each client. From children to adults, our speech pathologist offers one on one sessions to help you or your child make consistent progress and develop the communication skills necessary for happy and successful lives.
Speech Disorder Evaluations
At First Coast Brain Builders, a speech pathologist will conduct a comprehensive and customized evaluation of you or your child’s auditory, speech, language, and reading abilities. This may include informal, play based and/or formal evaluation protocols to obtain a complete picture of you or your child’s communication status.
After the evaluation, a written report and treatment plan will be reviewed and provided to you. Treatment is most effective when the whole team is involved— including audiologists, teachers, pediatricians, caregivers, and any other specialists. Communication with the entire team will occur to ensure maximum progress.

Auditory Training
First Coast Brain Builders provides speech and language therapy services to improve auditory and memory skills. Speech therapy can help stimulate parts of the brain responsible for memory and understanding of speech and language, assisting in improving overall communication skills.
Auditory training provides support for adjusting to hearing loss and listening with hearing aids or hearing technology. Even if you don’t have hearing loss, you may still struggle to hear conversation in noise. We hear with our ears but listen with our brains. Auditory training uses active listening exercises to train the brain to interpret sounds in order to improve understanding of language and give you the tools for successful communication.
We prioritize collaboration between the speech pathologist and audiologist to maximize the benefit of your hearing technology.
Memory Mapping
Memory mapping therapy is like a workout for your brain! It’s a way to exercise working memory, listening in noise, problem solving, processing speed, multi-tasking abilities, and more. To understand conversation, we need all of these skills. The good news is these skills can be improved with practice. A customized treatment plan will be created for you to exercise these skills to see improvements in your daily activities and routines.
